I also got a new water bottle for those hot summer days out in field service, you know, the days when it get's to be 105 degrees out. Ya, this will come in handy on those types of days. It should reduce my chances of getting a heat stroke...well, that's what Mom says anyway. "
"Well Tommy I gotta go now, I need to shovel the neighbors snow off the driveway for five bucks. I use the money to help Dad pay for groceries since He and Mom have been pioneerig so much lately."

I overheard a nauseating conversation . . .
by 144001 ini was in the produce section of a local market, when i happened to overhear the following comment: "we celebrate christ's birth every day of the year, not just on christmas!
" i turned and knew the nature of the source of the comment immediately, judging by the polyester pantsuit and delusional "deer in headlights" look on her face.
her companion replied, "but i like celebrating christmas and don't see anything wrong with it.

Paul,
Like you, I still believe in the Bible and in Jehovah and his son. I am no longer a witness and have not been for about three years now. I have drawn this conclusion, and it may sound harsh, but...I am NOT special. I do NOT deserve everlasting life. People have been dying since the beginning of man's creation, I am NO different. I am NOT special, I do NOT get a special, "You may pass the dreaded death sentence card". I love Jehovah, but I do not expect him to cater to my needs for life. If he chooses to give it, I will accept. Life is a gift, gifts cannot be earned. The very nature of a gift is that it cannot be earned, because.....it's a gift, of love, from the heart of the giver.
Yes, I have accepted that I will take my place in death alongside all those that have passed before me. What can I do with my life now? Love my God Jehovah and love my neighbor. That was Jesus' message. There are no greater things that you can do with your life than these two things. Perhaps Jehovah will hold out that gift of life to you....really there is nothing any of us can do about it. We are all at His mercy.
Some may argue, "I don't subscribe to this belief in Jehovah or that he holds the power of life and death". Those that argue this point will have the same fate awaiting them too, there is no argument after death.

I know Christmas is "wrong", but for god's sakes, what's so "wrong" about New Near's day?
by african GB Member inthis time of the year is the most stressful for jw's(especially progressive jws) as they have to explain to non-jws why they don't celebrate christmas and new year's days.. i can understand the religious implications of christmas day, but what about new years?
what is so wrong about looking forward to new beginings?
was new year celebration also started by "christendom/ babylon the great"?

sir82,
Yes, that's correct. In fact, the common wedding ring has it's roots in Pagan origin's, so does the wedding vail and common door knocker. So where and who gets to decide where the cutoff point is?

lalliv01,
Yes, Iran and the Muslim's DO want an Armageddon, or whatever they want to call it. Remember, when you have nothing to lose, the fight gets easier. These people win either way.....

insignificance and arrogance
by Aussie Oz inthis evening the wife and i went for a walk on the beach, something that never fails to make me feel small and insignificant.
i stand on the edge of this huge island called australia looking out to the curve of the horizon.
this is a small planet, floating in its own blue atmosphere, floating in our tiny galaxie, in its own little solar system, in its slightly larger section of the unmeasurable universe.. we are as tiny, even tinier than a fine grain of sand in the universe, we are, essentialy, nothing.

I have always been amazed at powerless and insignifacant we humans really are....the video really magnifies this....
